Size: Up to 4 feet more or less.
Growth Form: Forb/herb; subshrub; stems erect, without hairs or slightly pubescent.
Leaves: Green; basal and cauline, basal leaves pinnately lobed.
Flower Color: Purplish-pink, white, lobes with darker-purple, showy flowers, flower lobes speckled; floral tube is long and slender, inflorescence with 3 or more (7) flowers, calyx lobes narrow, anthers yellow; fruit a capsule.
Flowering Season: May to September, March to May in California.
Elevation: 5,000 to 8,500 feet.

Habitat Preferences: Gravelly to rocky slopes, open coniferous forests.

Recorded Range: Slendertube Skyrocket is found generally in the southwest and northwest parts of the United States in AZ, CA, CO, NV, OR, ID, UT and WY. In Arizona it is limited in distribution to Pima County.

Comments: Slendertube Skyrocket hybridizes with Skyrocket, (I. aggregata). The type species is from the Santa Catalina Mountains (Peebles et. al. 2522).
